My thoughts on every piece of Spider-Man Media that I've seen. (3 years of Spider-Plush)

HELLO everyone, it's me Spider-Plush (Also known as Eddie) and to celebrate 3 years of Daily Spider-Plush, i bring you my true honest opinions on every piece of Spider-Man media that i have seen.

I'm doing this because i have never shared my true thoughts on any of these things, and you guys HAVE to know.

But i have to state the rules first.

  1. No Venom/Morbius/Kraven/whatever

  2. I have to be 100% honest with you guys.

  3. No media that just happens to feature spider-man.

Yeah let's go.

0. My story with the Spider-Man products. (and some of my thoughts

It all started when my dad showed me this movie called "Spider-Man" on DVD, i was flabbergasted, i was like "this guy is awesome, i need to see more of him" so he showed me the other 2 movies, and i was like "this guy, i wanna be like him, i'm his number one fan now"

A few years later, my dad gave me this heavy book that reprinted Amazing Spider-Man #568 to #583, i couldn't even read yet, i just looked at the cool pictures. I still have that TPB somewhere in my Spider-Man collection.

I was super disappointed that Spider-Man 4 was canceled but i was super hyped because the Spider-Man Reboot looked great, i was like "can't wait for The Amazing Spider-Man, i'm sure it will be great."

I also remember being like 7 and some family was visiting, my dad gave me a comic and said "hey this is your old comic from when you were 5" and i did not remember having this issue, it was issue 691 of Amazing Spider-Man, which featured the Lizard, so i was there with a bunch of family members that i didn't recognize, reading this Spider-Man comic book.

The first english comic book that i ever got was Spectacular Spider-Man #186, it was a fun story.

I remember going with my family to a hotel and there was a movie theater nearby so we went to watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and didn't cry when Gwen Stacy died.

I didn't get to watch Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters but i did eventually watch it like 2 years after it came out. I almost cried when Spidey was dusted away at the end of Infinity War, but i manned up and didn't cry... Ok i did cry.

When he appeared in Endgame for like 5 seconds i was like "I forgot he existed but that's cool". I watched Far From Home with my cousin and we had fun, but when i saw that post-credits scene, i was like "i can't wait for the next one" i was already making my own fanfiction (no not really i was just imagining stuff) and joined r/Spiderman to talk to other Spider-Fans.

But then a pandemic happened and i was like "well i gotta wait like 5 more years for that movie" but then i saw that they started filming during the pandemic and was like "how what why" so i started reading every piece of information i could find about this new movie, i was looking at all of the speculation, all of the rumors and the fan-made shit.

After i made my twitter, i started looking at all of the other spidey fans... and i became a daily account but that's a story for later.

I was a bit annoyed because the promotion for this movie fucking sucked, the trailer was released like 5 months before the movie, the poster was released a month before the movie and the plushies were released until waaayy after it came out. i took my Spider-Man plushie to the theater and I'm sure that he liked the movie.

So that's my story with the Spider-Man media, as you can clearly tell, he is my fave, so you can expect a lot of these thoughts to be positive.

Let's finally talk about my thoughts.

  1. Comics and Books.

So first off... the comics because that's where spider-man originated from.

Earth 616.

Some of you guys already know this but i am a fake spider-man fan because i have not read every spider-man comic ever made, but i have read a lot of them and they are somehow always great, there is always something that i love about these stupid pieces of paper with drawings on them. Good shit, go read them.

You might say "how could you like them? they have omd and sins past and the new run and-" and i would say "i don't care", I don't whine on the internet if a comic book is bad, i just say "i didn't think it was great" and move on, there's no need to say "SPIDER-MAN IS DOGSHIT NOW, HE IS RUINED AND EVERYONE THAT WORKS IN THIS BOOK SUCKS" every time someone mentions the new run, it's just comic book shit, bro.

you probably: waaah im crying like a stupid baby because spider-man had a bad comic waaa waaa im stupid waaah

me (cool guy): then stop reading

you probably: NO

this is what i see on twitter every month.

Now, you may be thinking, WHAT ABOUT ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN????

Earth 1610.

Ultimate Spider-Man (2000)

I have not read every issue but from what I've read, this comic is pretty good, also apparently, he is coming back next year so that's cool.

2. Animation and TV

So after appearing in comics, Spidey appeared in cartoons because of these green papers that are apparently called "dollars" that were popular in the 60's and are still popular now, i myself have a few dollars.

So, TV shows, right? Here are my thoughts on every Spider-Man cartoon.

Spider-Man (1967)

Some of you guys might know that i am a big fan of the Lee & Ditko era of Spider-Man comics, someone in a gc got mad at me for recommending them and we got into an argument (I lost).

This show has been memed to death but has anyone actually seen it? I know i have, it's pretty good, the episodes sometimes adapt stories from the comics but sometimes it does have original stories and they are great.

So here's something that people don't really talk about, and it's the soundtrack of this show, it's great. The intro song is a fucking classic that is still being used and referenced in spider-man media to this day.

The animation quality really varies, sometimes things look great and other times it looks really cheap, that's because the show had a low budget.

So yeah the show is good, favorite episode is episode 4B: Captured by J. Jonah Jameson.

Up next is my favorite one, Spider-Man (1981)

This show is super-underrated, Spider-Man's quips are actually funny, the animation is actually good and the soundtrack is good.

Ted Schwartz's spider-man is perfect, this is exactly what he should sound like.

The stories are completely original, and this is one of the only spider-man shows with a proper ending.

At one point in episode 3, Spider-Man feeds super-glue to a bunch of lizards, this show is great.

My favorite scenes are the ones that take place at the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson is funny.

aight next show.

Spider-Man: Safety Series (1990)

This show is lost media, and only 2 episodes have been found as of september 2023. It used to be shown at schools to teach children to be safe, to not do drugs, to not hide abuse, and for teaching children where to go for help.

Only found episodes are "What to do about drugs" and "Don't Hide Abuse" and both are actually good and explain things very well. go watch them. (and archive them)

NEXT

Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (1982)

I don't believe that media ages, but this show has not aged well, and it isn't as funny as the last show.

this show was made because the 80's was full of cartoons about teams, so Marvel Productions thought "hey spidey needs friends" and added 2 characters that have nothing to do with him, Iceman from X-Men and Firestar (My mom's fave), they were gonna use the Human Torch but one of these 2 things happened

- Marvel somehow didn't have the rights to use him

- They feared that children would set themselves on fire for some reason

So they made a new character that was just the Human Torch but female.

The show is fun, it features cameos from a bunch of other marvel superheroes. Season 2 is about the origin stories of the 3 main characters, and they're fun i guess.

This show takes place in Earth-8107, the version of the characters that are killed by Morlun in Spider-Verse are from Earth-1983 (the earth from the comic one-shot) so the originals are still alive.

Around the 2010's, marvel made shitty dubs called "Marvel Mash-Ups" and they are not good, they're like a snapcube fandub but it's nothing like a snapcube fandub.

Next, Spider-Man (1994)

Shit i wonder who the main character is...

So Spider-Man is a show about Peter Parker, who sometimes wears a red & blue costume and calls himself "Spider-Man"

This show was clearly made by people who love spider-man and his stories, so it's very comic accurate most of the time, however you can clearly tell when something is there for the purpose of selling toys.

This show suffered from CENSORSHIP, which means that there's no Spider-Man killing pigeons, so yeah someone is disappointed. They couldn't show dead people so uncle ben is still alive (JK)

So, this show is great for the most part, however the memes are stale and i don't find them very funny, but if you find them funny then that's cool. The show is very comic book accurate and i recommend that you watch it.

NEXT: Spider-Man Unlimited (1999)

So, back in 1999, Sony bought the rights to Spider-Man, and they started to make a movie about him, which meant that they couldn't show these things:

- Spider-Man's red and blue costume

- His origin

- Him battling Green Goblin.

- i think that's it

But they somehow found a way to make a show about Spider-Man going on adventures, so they took him to the counter-earth, which is a place full of furries. This show was alright, but i guess the people in 1999-2000 didn't think so because they hated it, which meant low ratings, which meant cancellation, whoops.

the show is alright, but kinda boring at times, give it a watch if you're into leaving earth to go to a counter-earth where furries rule and humans are a minority.

NEXT SHOW: Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (2003)

This show was made because the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie was popular and actually good. So sony gave the spider-man cartoon rights to MTV and they made this show that was aimed at teenagers. They didn't put Aunt May in the show because their logic was "we can't show old people in this show for teens" so she only appears as a cameo once.

This show is apparently a sequel to the movie, however this idea was discarded after Spider-Man 2 came out.

I told this story in the October 12 special but back in a specific year, i was in my room browsing the TV channels and i saw that they were airing this show in a channel called Tiin, so i watched the Electro episode and thought it was a fun story.

NEEEEEEEXTTTT: The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008)

This show was made because.... No i don't know the backstory of this show.

This show has been ruined by a bunch of twitter users pretending that this is the peak of marvel media, but i don't think it's the best thing ever, in fact, i think it's only OK.

The people that made this show are fans of Spider-Man, which makes sense, imagine hiring a bunch of HATERS to make your show, that would be very silly.

NExt: Ultimate Spider-Man (2012)

Spectacular Spider-Man was canceled because Disney bought Marvel and they also bought the Spider-Man animated rights, which means that sony can't make a new Spider-Man cartoon.... unless it's longer than 40 minutes, look i'm not a lawyer, i don't know all of these copyrights stuff.

So this show is based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, according to the 2010 poster

The poster says 2011 but this show came out in 2012, idk maybe there's some fansite somewhere that says "ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN DELAYED TO 2012" but i'm too lazy to go look for it.

2012 was a great year for Spider-Man, we got a new movie, a few great comics, an alright show and also he fucking died.

One interesting fact i learned while reading the wikipedia article is that the first episode released on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Store after it came out.

Also a launch party happened at Midtown Comics, featuring 2 Joes (Joe Kelly and Joe Quesada) and a bunch of happy fans.

Imagine that, entering a comic store, seeing the new comics that just came out (boring shit) and then watching a cartoon while 2 comic nerds are there too just chilling... wow that would be an epic experience... Too bad that it will never happen again because companies don't care about doing cool shit anymore.

This show was nominated for awards 9 times, it won nothing.

So about the show... it's pretty good, it's just not peak. Also this show had A LOT of merchandise, maybe TOO MUCH. I have one sleeping bag, 2 figures and a free infinite comic (the comic isn't endless, it's just a digital exclusive comic.)

The show is good, but Drake Bell kinda sucks as Spider-Man and as a human being so that's one of the reasons why people hate this show.

aight next. Marvel's Spider-Man (2017)

Ultimate Spider-Man had a proper ending, but that didn't stop Disney from telling Spider-Man stories.

This show gets worse every time i watch it, i watched the first 2 seasons and i liked them, but then i tried to watch it again and thought it was fucking boring.

Not a lot of info on this show other than this one was not canceled and also had a proper ending.

I can't give my opinion on Spidey and His Amazing Friends because i haven't seen it.

There's still 2 animated things that i wanted to talk about.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018)

This movie was announced in 2014... no not really but the 2014 sony email leaks show that they were planning a Spider-Man animated movie. I used to watch SevenWebHeads back then so i don't know how i didn't find out that this was in the works, 7 year old me would've been like "OMG YES NEW ANIMATED SPIDER-MAN YEAHH SO HYPED GOTTA ASK MY DAD IF HE WANTS TO WATCH IT WHEN IT COMES OUT"

So i went to see the movie with my family members and thought it was fun.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

Me and my cousin went to watch this movie and we liked it, but he asked me "Why did they make Ben Reilly an idiot?" and that's my only problem with the movie, Why is Ben stupid?

They did a great job on this one, but this movie spawned the canon event meme and i fucking hate that meme.

Is this really the best Spider-Man movie? no but if you like it, then all i have to say to you is "i love it too."

3. Live Action Media.

Spidey Super Stories (1974)

"But Spider-Plush, this is a comic cover, why are you using a comic cover if this is live action?"

Well you see, there is no poster for Spidey Super Stories and i needed to put an image here.

Spidey Super Stories is a segment in The Electric Company, a TV show that taught children how to read or something. I have never seen a full episode of Electric Company but i have seen Spidey Super Stories and it's quite the watch.

Spidey doesn't talk, but he does make speech bubbles magically appear and that's how he communicates with the other dudes.

It's fun.

The Amazing Spider-Man (1977)

This is the first Spider-Man movie, and it was only released on TV and VHS. It wasn't really a big deal back then because no one gave a shit about marvel until 2018.

So i watched this movie on youtube and thought it was ok, not comic accurate, but it's fine, for a 70's spider-man movie, it's fine.

I have not seen Supaidaman yet, unfortunately, so i can't give you my thoughts on that.

Spider-Man (2002)

James Cameron wanted to make a Spider-Man movie, 1 bad script and thousands of legal battles later, he didn't make it. So marvel went bankrupt because they're like that friend that you really like but is really fucking stupid. Sony Pictures almost bought the rights for every marvel character.... but then they remembered that the other marvel characters fucking suck and only bought Spider-Man.

They hired a writer (David Koepp) and didn't hire a director until 2000. The director they hired is SAM RAIMI, director of Darkman, Evil Dead, and other films that people bring up sometimes. Around July of 2000, they announced that TOBEY MAGUIRE was gonna be Spider-Man, everyone was like "nah what the hell bruh" but then the movie came out and they shut their mouths.

The film is about Peter Parker stupid fucking nerd that gets superpowers and uses them for good after his uncle is shot. The villain is green goblin, a billionaire that gets super strength, a glider and a stupid costume. Yeah this film is gonna be great if it has that description.

This movie was and still is THE SHIT for me, it's so fucking good, this movie made me realize that super heroes are cool and awesome and it's the reason why i am like this.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

OH SHIT THERE'S A SEQUEL?

The first one was successful, so they made a sequel (you can say this about any sequel)

In this movie: Spidey is losing his fucking powers cause he's a bit sad, and there's this villain called DOC OCK, a guy with 4 robot arms who is building a giant sun, OH NO, HOW IS SPIDEY GONNA GET THROUGH THIS??? idk watch the movie.

I cry every time i watch this movie, no not really.

This isn't just your average superhero movie, this is a piece of art, everything is beautiful, the cinematography, the soundtrack, and the STORY. Check it out if you haven't, and if you have... then check it out again.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

This is the weakest one in the trilogy, and that's a shame because this could've been the best one, however the studio was like "Yeah this scene is great... cut it out" but actually... idk i wasn't there. Why doesn't sony release the deleted scenes? are they stupid?

The movie is still good, it's just not the best.

THERE'S 3 VILLAINS IN THIS ONE: Sandman, Venom and New Goblin, one of them turns good, one of them is forgiven by the end of the movie and the other one is venom.

Venom is not the greatest in this movie, but i still love him.

Let's move on to Spider-Man 4...

Let's move on to The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Wow look at him.

Sony rebooted the spider-man franchise, and people weren't happy, however i am not like them. I was super hyped for this one, and i don't remember if we actually went to see it in theaters, all i know is that i was hyped.

The film is about his origin again. Also there's a lizard this time.

It's great, don't let others tell you it's mid.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

SPOILERS: gwen stacy dies

This one is about many things, it's about Electro, Peter's parents, Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy moving to england after her father dies, setting up a cinematic universe that never fucking happened and it's about Spider-Man of course.

When the costume was revealed i was like "it looks nice" but then i watched a buch of SevenWebHeads videos and was like "i gotta see this now" and i already told you the story of when i went to see it. go look at chapter 0 of this article.

I watch it sometimes when i order pizza and it's a good movie and the pizza is also great so... yeah i like it.

Time for Amazing Spider-Man 3...

So after this, sony made "The Interview" which somehow caused a HUGE data leak, many email addresses, documents and emails from a bunch of sony employees were leaked, and it's all archived on WikiLeaks.

In these emails, it was mentioned that Sony and Marvel wanted to team up and bring Spider-Man to the MCU... and guess what happened in 2015...

Spider-Man was gonna appear in an MCU film, which was cool.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

It's called homecoming because there's a homecoming party in this movie, and not a reference to Spidey coming home.

This film is just another Spider-Man story and that's what i love about it, idk why iron man is in the posters, he only appears like 3 times but the film is still good.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

Spider-Man goes to Europe and finds PEAK (Mysterio) and they become friends until they stop being friends.

The movie is fun and good, but i can see some of the problems that people on twitter point out. You should still check it out.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

I was super hyped for this movie... and i was not disappointed.

I already wrote a full storytime dedicated to this fucking movie, and i don't wanna type more because it's 10:58 PM and i am tired.

The movie is about the multiverse, i'm sick of this idea but this was made before the idea was overused so it's all good.

I don't wanna type a full synopsis, just watch the movie, it's peak.

I'll write about Video Games and Miscellaneous tomorrow.

4. Video Games.

It is at this point that i am sick of writing this shit, so i'm going to stop putting the backstory of these things, if you really wanna know why they made Spider-Man for the Atari, go look it up.

The first Spider-Man game was for the Atari 2600 and it had the cool title of "Spider-Man"

The title screen is just a screenshot of the game.

This game is fun, that's all you can say about it.

Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six (NES)

I really hate it, it's super painful to play, read the comic instead.

Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (SNES)

This game is inspired by the comic book. and you can say that about everything listed here. It's pretty fun.

Amazing Spider-Man (Game Boy)

AVGN is right, this game sucks.

Spider-Man 2 (Game Boy)

This one sucks worse and it's the worst game ever.

Spider-Man (PS1)

Finally, a game that is good and fun. It's great and fun but Spider-Man is so fucking slow.

Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro (PS1)

This is the same as the last one.

Spider-Man (Xbox)

This used to be my favorite game but then i lost access to the Xbox 360 that my family had so i'm gonna have to find a new favorite game.

It's pretty fun, but it gets boring fast.

Spider-Man 2 (GameCube)

I played it on Dolphin, it also got boring fast, but slightly less fast.

Ultimate Spider-Man (PC)

I did a 5 part playthrough of this game on my YouTube channel, don't check it out because it's bad and i really struggled (It was my first playthrough)

Messing around in the game is fun. Story Mode is fun too i guess.

Spider-Man: Friend or Foe (2007)

Fucking horrible, nothing about this game is good.

That's it for video games.

5. Miscellaneous

For the things that just don't quite fit.

The Amazing Spider-Man BBC Radio Play (1995)

This is the most comic-accurate Spider-Man thing, THEY LITERALLY READ LINES FROM THE COMICS, and the music is good too, however some of the noises you hear in this radio play are kinda weird. Give it a listen, i uploaded both parts to my YouTube.

Spider-Man Theme Song by Bob Harris and Paul Francis Webster.

It's a classic, it's been remixed thousands of times, and they're never quite as good as the original version, but i'm glad that this song is still being used today.

Spider-Man Popsicle (2001)

I've tried this popsicle once, when i was like 5 years old, and i never saw a character popsicle again, but i'm glad that i got to try this one, it was tasty. The gumball eyes were removed and that sucks, what also sucks is that i'll never get to try it again :(

Spider-Man: Far From Home Kellogg's Fruit Snacks

These are just regular fruit snacks, but they have the Spider-Man branding with Spider-Man related shapes. This one was actually one of my christmas gifts in 2019 and i'm thankful.

Spidey Spice Doritos

I went to the store once and went "I have to try this" and they were alright.

And now... the final thing i'll be reviewing for this article... Play-By-Play Spider-Man 3 Plushie.

This was the first Spider-Man thing i owned, i still have it, and it's age really shows. This is the plushie that could handle everything, it has never been torn except for that tiny hole that you can see in the picture. This plushie is great, one of my favorites.

That is every piece of Spider-Man media that i've seen... well, i've seen more things but if i put them here this article would be a 1 hour read and i do NOT want to make anyone read my stupid fucking ramblings for more than 15 minutes.

Stay tuned for the next part of the Spider-Plush 3 Year Anniversary Special, see you later!
