HELLO everyone, it's me Spider-Plush (Also known as Eddie) and i have this "essay" about the history of plush videos.
Oh hey this is my 20th article
The Thumbnail (I drew it)
Now, let me ask you a simple question… Have you seen a popular plush video channel lately? I am not talking about channels that have been around for many years, I am talking about channels that just got popular recently. There are not a lot of plush videos being made nowadays, and it’s becoming a dying genre of internet videos. In this essay I will tell you the story of plush videos and why they are dying.
What are plush videos? Plush videos are fun little short movies made with toys, these toys usually go on adventures. These plush videos usually feature video game plushies (mostly Sonic and Mario) and they are mostly made by children.
Plush videos are easy to make, just get a few plushies, a camera and an idea and then you can make a plush video. I don’t make plush videos because I am lazy.
How did plush videos begin? In February of 2006, a channel by the name of ElmoFan uploaded a video titled “Elmo & Frogger - Weed” the video title may sound fucking ridiculous, but that is the point of plush videos. So, the video starts with elmo smoking weed (Never thought i would say that), Frogger enters the room and elmo tries to share some of the weed with him, all of this happens while “Bodies” by Drowning Pool plays in the background.
I won’t tell you everything about it, just watch the full video. https://youtu.be/Vxu9rcE4dd0
So, after this video, people started making more plush videos with things like video game plushies, and here is where the Plush Video Boom "started" and everyone and their brother was watching them (I say that but my brother doesn't watch plush videos, he watches one piece)
So plush videos were """Popular""" for a few years, but the quality was just not the same, this is noticeable in channels like SuperMarioLogan... and other channels (Look i just don't know other plush channels, leave me alone.)
Then plush videos were being made by children who didn't edit their videos and if they did, they would use CapCut or some other program.
Now, how did plush videos start to die? Well in mid-2019 it was announced that YouTube got a lawsuit from the FTC because they were giving targeted ads to children under 13 years of age, which is a violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, and that caused YouTube to update their Terms of Service, which means that you now have to specify if your video was made for children or if it was made for people over 13 years of age. If your video was made for children then this means that your video is demonetized, the comments are disabled, you can't save it to a playlist, you can't download it and you can't use the miniplayer. (That last one is total bullshit)
If your video was directed at adults then this means that you can't mention things like eating cereal, playing with toys, cartoons, drawing and other childish activities. If you disobey any of these rules then you can get fined up to 50,120 for each violation.
This COPPA thing led to the death of many animation or plush channels (i think) because no one likes losing money because youtube is stupid.
So less people are making plush videos, and less people are watching them because no shit. So we have answered our question, and we were probably left with a few more questions...
Can we bring back plush videos?
They never really went away, there's still people making plush videos, it's just that less people are making them nowadays.
What are the best plush channels?
In my opinion, some of the best plush videos are:
ZacDicoot's videos
RosyTheRascal15's old plush videos
25 ways to kill yoshi
Uuuuuhhh that's it.
Do i look like a guy that watches plush videos?
That'll be it for this random thought, sorry for not posting anything in like 26 days, I've been busy with school stuff, and the plush document, and the Gwenpool Review. making this because i wanted to let you know that this site is not dead.
NEXT ARTICLE: i don't fucking know. but i am planning on making plush reviews one day.
